We are looking for a reliable, detail-oriented, and motivated Sterile Technician to join our team at our Clifton Park, NY location.

 

No prior dental or sterilization experience is required. We provide on-the-job training and support to help you build the skills needed to succeed in this important role. Schedule: Full-Time, 4 x 10-hour shifts

Pay Range: $20.00 per hour

Position Summary

The Sterilization Technician is responsible for sterilizing, cleaning, wrapping, storing, and distributing instruments, supplies, and equipment used in patient care. This role plays a critical part in maintaining OSHA standards, supporting clinical efficiency, and ensuring the safe operation of all sterilization processes and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Complete all morning sterilization tasks between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM
  • Turn tanks and wall systems on and off daily according to office procedures
  • Retrieve dirty instruments and equipment from clinical areas and return them to sterilization for cleaning and processing
  • Clean, disinfect, sterilize, inspect, assemble, and distribute instruments, equipment, trays, and packs
  • Operate autoclaves and other sterilization equipment safely and effectively
  • Prepare supplies and equipment for patient procedures
  • Adhere to OSHA standards by consistently wearing appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
  • Stock hygiene bays, operative rooms, and sterilization areas with the appropriate supplies and instruments
  • Maintain inventory levels to ensure materials are available when needed
  • Complete laundry throughout the day to keep towels, staff undershirts, doctor jackets, and maternity scrubs available
  • Complete two daily counts of hygiene handpieces to ensure instruments have not been discarded accidentally
  • Properly maintain sterilization equipment to ensure continued functionality
  • Oil handpieces, clean and replace isolites, and perform routine equipment maintenance
  • Change out scalers requiring sharpening
  • Run water lines according to the established schedule
  • Clean and set up trays to support patient flow throughout the day
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace
  • Wipe counters and sinks at least twice daily

Non-Essential Tasks

  • Complete weekly spore testing
  • Roll hygiene bags during downtime
  • Assist with breaking down, cleaning, and setting up operatories between patient appointments as needed
  • Support teammates and contribute to a positive work environment
  • Embody The Smile Lodge standards by being a great teammate, delivering a high-quality patient and employee experience, and maintaining dependable attendance
  • Complete additional projects and duties assigned by leadership

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • No prior experience necessary, recent graduates are encouraged to apply
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to follow infection control and safety procedures
  • Dependable, professional, and eager to learn
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Must be available to work a full-time weekday schedule
